My areas of research are mainly within child health psychology/pediatric psychology. My primary focus has been programmatic assessment and treatment research on children's coping and distress during acute painful medical procedures. Additional areas of research include: children's and parents' adaptation to chronic health conditions (pediatric GI disorders and cardiac conditions), infant distress and coping during injections, familial factors that influence syncope in children with cardiac conditions, using assessment research to design treatment protocols, maintenance and generalization of behavior change, and spirituality and faith in God as they relate to physical and psychological health. Acute pain, pediatric GI disorders, and pediatric cardiology are three major focus areas in the immediate future.
